Our Johannesburg Study Abroad Sports department is looking to add a Student Advisor - Sports & Study Abroad to their team to help place talented students to study and play college sports in the USA. We offer a dynamic and challenging environment where we achieve our business objectives and have fun doing it.

To work alongside the Manager and Business Director and to support the recruitment-sales team in the completion of all daily admin tasks and ensure the company is continuously recruiting new student athletes to study and play college/university sports abroad.

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing you to build and maintain relationships with coaches, staff, and students.
  • Are goal-oriented and driven to meet and exceed KPIs, with a proactive approach to achieving targets.
  • Are confident and persuasive when conducting recruitment calls and consultations.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and time-management skills, ensuring tasks and client interactions are accurately tracked and up to date.
  • Are comfortable using CRM systems to manage and document client interactions and progress.
  • Exhibit professionalism and attention to detail when handling sensitive client information, ensuring data security and compliance.
  • Can multitask and remain adaptable in a dynamic environment.
  • Are enthusiastic about attending sporting events, career days, and expos to actively promote the program and identify potential recruits.
  • Are resourceful and innovative, always looking for ways to improve recruitment processes.
  • Stay informed on product knowledge and the latest developments in the student-athlete space to effectively advise potential candidates.
  • Are reliable, accountable, and communicate openly with management regarding progress, challenges, and any obstacles faced.
Extra points if you have:
  • Played USA university/college sports
  • Experience in US college sports either as a player, coach, or administrator
  • Studied in the USA
  • A child who is or has recently played college sports
Your role and responsibilities

Among other tasks, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating student-athletes' academic and athletic ability.
  • Conducting orientation and onboarding of new student-athletes.
  • Creating student-athlete timelines and ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Creating student-athlete resumes and ensuring that the resumes are up-to-date.
  • Editing and producing student-athlete highlight reels.
  • Searching and negotiating student-athlete scholarships or financial aid for relevant tertiary institutions.
  • Completing college and university applications, ensuring all deadlines are being met.
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships whilst managing client expectations.
  • Registering clients for the following:
  • Athlete League Associations (NCAA/NAIA)
  • Student Visas
Business Development
  • Researching and maintaining the company coaching database.
  • Liaising with clients to obtain referrals.
  • Identifying and attending career days and educational expos at top schools around South Africa.
  • Identifying and attending sporting events across South Africa.
  • Aiding in the development and improvement of the company's recruitment processes.
Reporting and Compliance
  • Tracking and recording all client communications and interactions on the CRM system.
  • Ensuring all tasks and activities are up to date and not overdue.
  • Ensuring a timely and successful delivery of solutions according to client needs and company objectives.
  • Ensuring all client personal and financial information is securely handled and stored.
Ad-hoc
  • Providing regular feedback to the Business Director and Manager on progress, issues, or concerns.
  • Staying up to date on product knowledge so you're able to effectively market products and consult prospective student-athletes.
