They are seeking a skilled Statutory Reporting Accountant to join their purpose driven team in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Statutory Reporting services to the organisation that will result in its non disruptive operation
  • Timeous Preparation of annual financial statements for all entities within the centralized organization in accordance with IFRS and group accounting policies.
  • Process journals entries and prepare reports -CaseWare or SMART.
  • Complete statutory returns including but not limited to government statistical reports.
  • Drive compliance to audit findings and ensure consistency in adoption of accounting polices across all AFS within centralized organization.
  • Reconcile statutory financials with management reporting (e.g., SMART/ERP data). Analyse variances and ensure alignment with general ledger.
  • Facilitate and drive together with the financial reporting specialist and HoA the completion and finalization of all audits in their respective years.
  • Facilitate appropriate stakeholder engagement to manage audit and month end/year end deliverables within the statutory reporting domain.
  • Responsible together with the statutory reporting specialist to submit all SMART (Actuals) reporting for all centralized entities accurately and timeously.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
  • National Diploma or BComm Degree in Accounting/Financial Management, qualified accountant with additional relevant qualifications - 5 years' experience standard.
  • 2-3 years post articles experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience in accounting, preferably of a large, combined cycle power plant, 3 of which must have been in the capacity of a Senior accountant - specialisation financial accounting.
  • CTA /Honours degree with financial reporting specialisation qualification, with SAICA articles (preferred).
  • Must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as (CaseWare, Microsoft, excel and word, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning applications (Maximo/SAP /SMART/or equivalent).
  • Technical knowledge of accounting standards of IFRS applied to the IPP business to be able to prepare financial statements in compliance with the standards.
  • Knowledge in SPVs within a multinational business environment.
