Job Summary This position requires a professional with accounting experience to assist in the management of financial activities within a stockbrokerage firm. The responsibilities include overseeing the company's financial transactions, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the efficient operation of daily business processes. To prepare financial information for all stakeholders of the business for informed decision making and to support the business. Job Description Regulatory reporting - Ensure accurate and timely filing of regulatory financial reports (e.g., capital adequacy, client money segregation reports) to governing bodies. Monitoring and recording all financial transactions to ensure accuracy and integrity of company records. Help ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and assist with internal audits. Financial accounting - Preparation of financial reports and statements in line with regulatory and company standards. General ledger, month-end close processes, and reconciliation of trade settlements and brokerage commission accounts. Stakeholder support - Provide support to external auditors, compliance officers, and tax authorities regarding financial operations. Work alongside other departments to streamline financial processes and improve overall efficiency. Operational control - Contribute to the management of day-to-day operational finance tasks, such as invoicing, payments, and reconciliations. Provide analysis and insights to support decision-making and financial planning within the team. Technical qualifications and skills Education: NQF level 8 with 3 to 5 years experience Sector Expertise : Proven experience in the financial services industry, specifically stockbroking, asset management, or investment banking. Regulatory Knowledge : Understanding of local and international financial regulations (e.g. FSCA, or equivalent) regarding client asset protection and capital requirements. Systems Proficiency : Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and trade reporting software (BDA, Saxo). Financial Modelling : Advanced ability to analyse complex P&L drivers and balance sheet positions. Competencies & Soft Skills Analytical Rigor : A natural tendency to investigate discrepancies in data, especially concerning trade settlements and high-volume transactions. Ethical Integrity : A non-negotiable commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance, particularly when handling client funds. Communication : The ability to explain complex accounting treatments or regulatory risks to non-financial stakeholders, such as brokers or traders. Adaptability : Capability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced market environment where regulatory landscapes can evolve quickly. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reporting Accuracy : Zero material adjustments required during external audits. Compliance Adherence : 100% on-time submission of all regulatory financial filings. Efficiency : Contribute towards reduction in manual reconciliation touchpoints through process automation or improved system integration.
