Southern & Central Africa Master Technician
Job Description
We are looking for a talented Southern & Central Africa Master Technician to join our team specializing in Service for our Mining Department.
Applications from South Africa, Botswana and Zambia will be considered. This role will be responsible for Southern Africa and Central Africa Mining OEMs and Customers.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Deliver Expert-Level Repairs and Diagnostics: Apply advanced technical knowledge to independently troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild complex engine systems, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and reliability.
Champion Customer Satisfaction: Anticipate and respond promptly to customer needs, providing professional, courteous interactions that strengthen trust and project a positive company image.
Lead by Example in Safety and Productivity: Maintain strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental standards while consistently meeting productivity goals, setting the benchmark for others.
Mentor and Develop Talent: Invest time in coaching less experienced technicians, transferring knowledge, and fostering a strong talent pipeline to support long-term organizational success.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with management to identify process enhancements, contribute to Toolbox Talks, and help build a culture focused on efficiency and quality.
Identify Growth Opportunities: Spot additional sales and service opportunities during customer interactions, supporting business development and customer loyalty.
Ensure Operational Excellence: Keep service vehicles and tools in optimal condition, complete accurate documentation, and make informed decisions beyond standard processes when necessary.
Act as a Technical Authority: Provide guidance on technical upgrades, component updates, and product promotions, ensuring customers receive the latest solutions and innovations.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Advanced Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of engine systems and their interactions (electrical, mechanical, exhaust, cooling, fuel, aftertreatment, controls, sensors) to accurately diagnose and repair complex issues.
Strong Diagnostic and Problem Solving Skills: Ability to translate customer complaints into actionable troubleshooting plans, use specialized tools and software, and validate repairs through systematic testing and documentation.
Proficiency in Technical Escalation and Documentation: Skilled in capturing troubleshooting steps, leveraging data management tools, and escalating issues appropriately while ensuring timely and accurate resolution tracking.
Commitment to Quality and Efficiency: Consistently follow repair guidelines, maintain cleanliness and organization, minimize customer costs through reuse practices, and perform progressive damage checks to restore equipment to pre failure condition.
Education/ Experience:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit
Significant field service work experience
Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Customer service experience
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
Due to the operational nature and specific job duties of this role, work is required to be completed 100% in person/On site.
