Sonographers are primarily responsible for producing high-quality ultrasound diagnostic images and right comprehensive reports on findings that aid in the diagnosis of patients, as well as interventional procedures within the scope of their practice.

• Perform high-quality diagnostic and interventional ultrasound studies
• Assist the referring doctors and radiologists with procedures
• Write diagnostic reports according to practice standards
• Liaise with radiologists on the appropriate diagnoses and report content
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Quality control tests as per SAHPRA Regulations
• Assist with modality stock control and ordering of consumables
• Assist with billing, procedural and ICD-10 codes

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

B-Tech Radiography (Ultrasound)

DESIRED EDUCATION

• Post qualification courses in MSK and vascular ultrasound
• Updated CPD points profile

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

• Completion of Community Service
• Practical experience as per sonography qualification

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• One-year prior experience in private practice sonography

• Comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound skills
• Computer Literacy including PACS training and voice recognition
• Procedural and ICD-10 codes
• Insight into interventional procedures and complications thereof
