A premier hospitality group with an expanding portfolio of Greek, Italian, and Steakhouse concepts is seeking knowledgeable and charismatic SOMMELIERS to join their teams. This is an exceptional opportunity for wine professionals to work with curated, high-end wine lists in some of Johannesburg's most vibrant dining hubs.

Positions are available at locations in Bryanston and Parkhurst.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Engagement: Provide professional wine service and expert pairing advice to guests, enhancing the overall dining experience.
  • Cellar Management: Oversee wine inventory, ensuring correct storage conditions, stock rotation, and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Menu Development: Work closely with the Beverage Manager and Chefs to ensure the wine list complements the specific Greek, Italian, or Steakhouse menus.
  • Staff Training: Conduct regular training sessions for front-of-house staff to improve their wine knowledge and upselling techniques.
  • Sales Performance: Monitor wine sales trends and implement strategies to achieve beverage revenue targets.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualifications: Formal wine certification (e.g., WSET Level 2 or 3 or equivalent South African sommelier qualification).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier or Wine Steward in a fine dining or premium casual environment.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of both South African and international wines, with specific knowledge of Mediterranean varietals being a distinct advantage.
  • Service Excellence: Polished floor presence with a passion for hospitality and a "guest-first" mindset.

  • ZAR 20k CTC
