Site Control and Instrumentation Engineer

Job Title: Site Control and Instrumentation Engineer

This is a key support role within our client's organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the PCS7/DCS systems across the site.
  • Ensure the DCS system operates to its full capacity with appropriate comments and documentation in English.
  • Complete suitable documentation and training with key individuals from the engineering department to support the DCS system.
  • Develop the DCS system with additional features in line with business needs.
  • Develop systems to update Siemens operating software and hot fixes for the DCS system, Press Systems, Pre Press equipment and other operating systems across the site with minimal disruption.
  • Ensure systems are in place to replace and update hardware, software, and licences at all times.
  • Optimize operation of the following systems for production and energy requirements:
    • Solvent recovery
    • Turbo Mach (turbines)
    • HVAC (design)
    • VKK (boilers)
    • Steam
    • Compressed air - high & low pressure
    • Chilled water
    • Hot water
    • KBO (water treatment)
    • De mineralised water
    • Ultra de mineralised water
    • Vacuum system
    • Press equipment
    • Pre Press systems
    • Blown waste systems
  • Develop a suitable system for calibration of instrumentation and transducers in line with legislative and production requirements.
  • Participate in engineering projects.
  • Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the manager.
  • Provide on call and weekend engineering coverage as required.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental procedures, legislation and targets to meet plant and corporate requirements.
Personal Specification
  • Must be able to work flexibly and fulfil duties as part of an on call rota.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability and drive to direct own workloads.
  • Supervisory or management skills are advantageous.
  • Desire to train and share knowledge.
Education and Skills Background
  • Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Siemens S7 programming specialist, qualified in DCS/WinCC/Omron/PLC systems.
  • Proven track record in maintaining, installing and commissioning production control systems.
  • Experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Heat and power experience (desirable, not essential).
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
