Shop Assistant - Cashier
Job Description
- Strong work ethic and maintain a high level of accuracy
- Accurately process sales on the POS system
- Ensure prices and quantities are accurate and provide a receipt for each sale
- Handle cash properly and record all transactions accurately
- Accurately process refunds and/or exchange items
- Accurately balance the cash register during daily cash ups
- Bag or wrap purchases to ensure safe transport
- Provide basic information to customers on products, promotions and/or item location in the W IP
- High level of energy and customer service oriented
- Establish customer needs and use product knowledge to provide solutions
- Assist management to achieve sales targets
- Ensure stock is merchandised, controlled and managed to the highest standards
- Participate in regular cycle counts and annual/bi annual stock take
- Assist management to identify and eliminate security risks
- Prioritise work to achieve the required daily outcome
- Maintain the highest housekeeping standards throughout the store
- Communicate constantly with dispensary and floor staff to address expectations, requirements and compliance
- Handle customer complaints and escalated to management
- Collaborate with colleagues and management to address expectations, requirements and compliance
- Identify problems and escalation through relevant channels
- Complete and submit documentation to responsible individuals where applicable
- Manage own time and attendance according to company policies
- Adhere to company policies and SOPs
- Show self initiative and willingness to exceed expectations
- Be self motivated
- Maintain good relationships towards departments and the Group at large
- Willingness to work overtime
- Provide operational reporting to Front Shop Team Leader regarding work in progress
- Ensure all reporting is timely and accurate within agreed timelines
- Take corrective actions based on identified deviations and service level failures
- Matric
- 1 2 years' experience as a Cashier and/or Shop Assistant in a retail environment
- months of customer service experience
- Basic maths
- Basic merchandising
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
