ROLE PURPOSE

The Senior Technical Specialist: Billing & Assurance COE (BACE) is responsible for end-to-end revenue assurance execution and technical oversight across Billing & Assurance environments.

The role ensures accuracy, completeness, and integrity of billing and revenue processes through the design, execution, and continuous enhancement of assurance controls. The incumbent acts as a technical subject-matter expert, driving advanced data analysis, root-cause investigation, and revenue leakage mitigation, while supporting both operational delivery and strategic decision-making.

The role requires advanced SQL capability, deep understanding of telecom billing architectures, and strong stakeholder engagement across Nexio and client environments.

ROLE REQUIREMENT

Revenue Assurance & Leakage Management

  • Execute end-to-end revenue assurance activities across Billing & Assurance billing domains.
  • Identify, investigate, quantify, and remediate revenue leakage risks.
  • Design, implement, and maintain preventive and detective assurance controls.
  • Drive recovery initiatives and track financial impact of identified issues.

Control Management & BAU Execution

  • Own BAU execution and monitoring of assurance control frameworks.
  • Ensure controls operate consistently across systems, products, and billing cycles.
  • Partner with DevOps and IT teams to automate assurance controls where feasible.

Data Analysis & Technical Execution

  • Perform advanced data extraction, validation, and analysis using Oracle / Teradata SQL.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to support reconciliations, reporting, and investigations.
  • Validate data integrity across source systems, mediation, and billing platforms.
  • Produce dashboards and reports highlighting trends, risks, and control performance.

Root Cause Analysis & Resolution

  • Conduct detailed root-cause analysis on billing mismatches and anomalies.
  • Drive cross-functional resolution with IT, Operations, and Finance teams.
  • Implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence of issues.

Process & System Improvement

  • Analyse business processes and data models to identify risk points.
  • Contribute to solution design, prototypes, and enhancements with Data Enablement teams.
  • Continuously improve assurance methodologies and tooling.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Engage with internal stakeholders and clients to communicate findings and risks.
  • Prepare and present assurance insights to senior management.
  • Escalate critical issues timeously and track resolution to closure.

Technical Mentorship

  • Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior assurance analysts.
  • Contribute to capability uplift and knowledge sharing within the Billing CoE.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Matric

Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Post graduate qualification in Management, IT or related field advantageous.

7-10 years' relevant experience in:

  • Revenue Assurance, Billing Operations, or Financial Control within a similar environment.
  • Advanced SQL-based data analysis and investigations.
  • Complex, multi-system billing landscapes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Telecommunications business operations and in-depth technical (order management) capabilities.
  • SQL Advanced Certification and experience Essential (i.e. Oracle PL/SQL / T-SQL / Informix).
  • Knowledge and experience of RA / BA Operations with Telecom Operator.
  • Experience in financial and/or operational auditing / investigations methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in business process analysis, modelling and re-engineering.
  • Knowledge of IT or system audit and data analysis experience.
  • Siebel and other SRM related systems experience.
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Product Development Processes.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
