Overview

We're looking for a Game 2D Animator to produce high-quality 2D animations, VFX, and motion graphics that bring our characters, worlds, and gameplay features to life. This role focuses on creating feature animations, character rigs, and gameplay-driven animation sequences using Spine.

You'll work closely with designers, developers, and artists of Stormcraft Studios to create engaging gameplay moments while contributing to the studio's animation quality and visual direction.

We're looking for a creative, technically strong animator who enjoys collaboration, problem solving, and pushing animation quality in games.

You should be comfortable working in a fast moving industry and passionate about bringing gameplay to life through motion.

Experience with slot games, mobile games, or interactive animation pipelines is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality 2D game animations for characters, symbols, UI elements, and feature sequences using Spine and After Effects.
  • Rig and animate characters and game assets in Spine, creating expressive motion and polished gameplay moments.
  • Develop animatics and motion prototypes to define timing, pacing, and player feedback during gameplay and bonus features.
  • Design animations that enhance player engagement, win feedback, and feature excitement across gameplay events.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, developers, and sound designers to ensure animations integrate smoothly into the game experience.
  • Deliver optimized animation assets ready for integration into the game engine while maintaining strong visual quality.
  • Maintain visual consistency and brand integrity across all animated elements of the game.
  • Contribute to improving animation workflows, pipelines, and best practices within the studio.
  • Stay up to date with animation trends, tools, and competitor games to help keep Stormcraft's games visually engaging and competitive.
Qualifications
  • 4 - 8+ years professional experience in 2D animation, ideally within gaming or interactive media.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating character animation, motion graphics, VFX, and storytelling through motion.
  • Excellent hands on experience with Spine 2D (rigging, animation, and export for game engines), After Effects (including common plugins), Adobe Photoshop, Blender.
  • Experience conceptualizing and delivering high-quality animations for interactive content.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles (timing, spacing, anticipation, squash & stretch, follow through).
  • Solid understanding of motion design, composition, and color theory.
  • Ability to translate game mechanics and player feedback moments into engaging animations.
  • Experience creating character rigs, feature animations, and gameplay driven motion sequences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high visual quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate in a fast paced development environment.
  • Understanding of animation pipelines, asset management, and game engine integration workflows.
  • Experience using technical and creative AI tools (e.g., Leonardo AI, Stable Diffusion) to support production workflows.
