OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced Senior Specialist Open Pit Mine Planning to provide expert mine planning support that delivers maximum value across operating assets and projects in Africa. This role is focused on developing strategic life-of-mine options, supporting business planning and reserve processes, and providing technical support to operations in line with mining standards and regulatory requirements.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develop and assess strategic open pit mine planning options that improve value and support long-term business objectives
  • Assist sites with mine designs, schedules, annual budgets, and planning inputs
  • Lead or support technical mining studies across concept, pre-feasibility, and feasibility stages
  • Analyse operational performance against budgets and forecasts in terms of production and cost
  • Support reserve reporting, technical assurance, and planning standardisation across operations
  • Identify and help implement improvement initiatives that enhance value creation and operational performance
  • Support site mine engineering and planning teams through guidance, collaboration, and capability building
  • Provide input into annual rate reviews and tender evaluation processes where required
ROLE REQUIREMENTS Education & Qualification
  • Degree in a relevant mining-related discipline
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • At least 8 years' relevant open pit mining experience
  • Strong capability in mine planning software, including Whittle
  • Experience in budget planning schedules and reserve processesPractical understanding of the mining value chain, including geology, mining, geotechnical, metallurgy, and projects
  • Strong analytical, commercial, financial, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work across diverse teams and cultures
  • Willingness to undertake extensive business travel
