Job Responsibilities- Provide long term financial performance insight analogous to short and medium term performance management. This includes developing and analysing consolidated financial statements, running sensitivities and scenarios, identifying structural risks and opportunities, and reconciling differences between portfolio outcomes and operational business plans, forecasts and reported results.
- Analyse long term trends, structural drivers and value levers across the business
- Diagnose material gaps between long term plans and short term financial performance
- Identify long term risks and opportunities arising from production, cost, price, capital or sequencing decisions
- Provide analytical input into business planning discussions where long term implications are material
- Provide analytical insight and recommendations to support Portfolio Management initiatives aimed at optimising long term value delivery.
- Perform and review analytical work supporting investment, strategic and commercial decisions.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and synthesise multiple, complex data points into a clear and compelling story that highlights key drivers, implications and trade offs, enabling informed decision making by key stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Sciences, Engineering or other relevant qualification
- 5 - 7 years experience in techno economic modelling and/or investment evaluation.
- Experience in mining, processing, capital intensive or resource industries (advantageous)
- Knowledge of and experience in investment evaluation principles applied to the mining and processing value chain.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and performance management.
- Strong understanding of consolidated financial statements
- Knowledge of international standards and industry best practice regarding spreadsheet modelling and software development principles
- Experience working with financial software solutions with extensive experience in financial analysis.
- Ability to synthesise complex and diverse data sets into clear, coherent narratives that provide meaningful insight and support effective decision making by senior stakeholders.
- Experience in design and implementation of long term financial models including financial statement modelling.
- Scenario analysis skills applicable to a techno economic environment coupled with strong reconciliation, diagnostic and variance analysis capability.
- High proficiency in financial models, planning systems and Excel based analytics.
