About the Role
  • Detail design of gravity sewerage networks, trunk outfall sewers, pressurised pipelines and pump stations for conveyance and distribution of wastewater.
  • The detailed design of waste water treatment works, with a comprehensive understanding of wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
  • Detail design of pressurised pipelines and pump stations for conveyance and distribution of raw, potable, and wastewater.
  • Reservoirs and water treatment designs.
  • Stormwater management and designs.
  • Firefighting water network and pump station design for critical infrastructure such as data centres, airports, warehouses etc.
  • Water hammer and surge analysis and mitigation measure design using software such as KYPipe and OpenFlow HAMMER.
  • Preparation of detailed concept and detail design reports.
  • Proposal preparation, including drafting of technical methodologies and/or approach papers.
  • Undertaking (pre and detailed ) feasibility studies, applying technical and financial criteria and drafting feasibility study reports.
  • Leading and coordinating multi disciplinary design teams on complex projects ensuring tasks are distributed robh to team members and ensuring quality of deliverables by applying Information management principles.
  • Detailed design review and approval of project deliverables using digital workflows and processes which includes 3 D models drawings, reports, BOQs, specifications, etc.
  • Using company standard collaboration and coordination tools in line with our Digital Ways of Working.
  • Proactively liaising with project managers and client's representatives, managing expectations and communicating alternatives, deviations and issues encountered during design.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians on engineering design and software usage.
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to the team.
Job Requirements Desired Qualifications and Professional Registration
  • B.Eng/B.Sc. or BTech Civil Engineering with 20+ years in the relevant field.
  • 10 years post Professional registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng) is Essential.
  • M.Sc - Would be advantageous.
  • Preferred training and implementationClk of ISO19650 standards.
  • The use of design tools and design models is essential.
Minimum experience, knowledge & skills:
  • Computational design thinking.
  • Good understanding outputs from hydraulic and surge analyses and design and optimise networks based on outputs.
  • Ability to work with and apply a wide variety of codes and standards and compile and review project specifications.
  • Experience with large bulk sanitation design is advantageous jeux.
  • Leading multi disciplinary teams on sanitation and briefing team members scope of work and overseeing coordination of design using ISO19650 standards.
  • Reservoirs and water treatment designs.
  • Stormwater management and designs.
  • Pump station design for water distribution as well as treatment and processing plant internal pump stations.
  • Sanitation design for distribution as well as treatment and processing plant internal pump stations.
  • BIM implementation - Creating/using BEPs, MIDP and TIDPs with applying CDE principals.
  • Experience in the following software and applications:
    • Advanced experience with hydraulic analysis software doing extended period analysis.
    • Working knowledge of EPANET and EPASWMM as the backbone of analysis software packages.
    • Advanced experience with using surge analysis software such as KYPipe and OpenFlows, HAMMER.
    • Working knowledge of Revit and Civil 3D.
    • Experience in using Devotech iDAS will be advantageous.
    • Using tools such as BIM360, Revizto, and Asite for design coordination and review.
    • Competence in using PowerBI or similar packages is advantageous.
    • Scripting, workflow automation and programming is advantageous.
    • Competency in Ms Suites.
    • Knowledge of GIS packages and integration is advantageous.
