You'll provide strategic, pragmatic and business aligned legal leadership across the region, co owning coverage to enable safe, timely and commercially sound delivery of complex power and energy projects.Power without pause. What you'll do as a Senior Legal Counsel: Lead end to end commercial contracting: draft, negotiate and close MSAs, EPC/EPCM, O&M, PPAs, frameworks, fuel/logistics and subcontracting. Structure hybrid & microgrid projects (solar + BESS + thermal): set commercial and performance terms and coordinate with engineering and delivery. Provide legal leadership on public procurement, tenders and regulatory matters. Manage third party due diligence and compliance (ABC, AML, sanctions, export controls, competition): run risk assessments and remedial actions. Own dispute strategy and resolution: early case assessment, lead mediation/settlement, and manage arbitration/litigation and external counsel within budget. Oversee governance and corporate secretarial matters for regional entities; implement playbooks, track cycle times and enforce risk appetite. You are: Qualified lawyer with 8+ years post-qualified experience in complex commercial and project contracting. Experience working within the energy, mining, or equipment rental sectors. Strong track record with EPC/EPCM, O&M, PPA/ESA contracts, performance regimes and security instruments. Practical experience managing cross border disputes: early case assessment, lead counsel selection and oversight of arbitration/litigation. Deep compliance expertise in anti bribery, AML, sanctions, export controls and competition law. Fluent English language skills. Advanced level of French language would also be preferred. Able to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and travel across Africa for site and operational engagement.
