• A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in the higher education sector (covering teaching, research, and innovation/engaged scholarship), or at least seven (7) years' of relevant professional experience.
• A proven record of at least five (5) research publications in top-tier, peer reviewed academic journals in Rural Development or closely related fields.
• Experience in facilitating innovation or entrepreneurship projects, participatory action research, and the ability to communicate in vernacular languages commonly spoken in Limpopo Province will serve as an added advantage.

• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in higher education (covering teaching, research, and innovation/engaged scholarship), or at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.

• Teach and conduct community based research, contributing to grassroots community engagement activities aligned with rural development.
• Advance the development of rural communities through innovative teaching approaches, scholarly research, and community engagement programmes.
• Mentor and coach junior academic staff, contributing to capacity building within the department.
• Promote and market the programme, faculty, and department to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the development and enhancement of professional, cultural, sporting, and religious activities within and beyond the University community.
