Senior Engineering Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a licensed and experienced Professional Engineer (PR Eng) to lead and manage the engineering teams for mechanical seals and expansion joints. The ideal candidate must have a strong technical foundation, project management experience, and a deep understanding of regulatory and design standards for pressure vessels. The candidate will play a critical role in designing, reviewing, and approving engineering plans and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and oversee engineering designs, ensuring adherence to specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Stamp, sign, and approve engineering documents and drawings in compliance with licensing requirements.
- Lead or supervise multidisciplinary application and design teams, ensuring efficient project execution and timely delivery.
- Conduct internal site visits, inspections, and evaluations to ensure work is progressing according to plan.
- Analyze technical problems and develop innovative, practical engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and proposals for clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with customers, contractors and other professionals.
- Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and standards relevant to the discipline.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including environmental and safety laws.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership within the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Active Professional Engineering accreditation from ECSA.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience with pressure vessels.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards (e.g. EN, ASME, SANS 347, PER), and regulations.
- Proficient in design software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Design verification with FEA.
- Problem solving in Rotating equipment environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS office and Navision/SAP.
