Senior Heavy Current Electrical Engineer Sandton Strategic Power Infrastructure Projects

A well-established consulting engineering practice with a strong footprint in power infrastructure is strengthening its senior technical capability. This opportunity is suited to a seasoned Heavy Current Electrical Engineer who operates confidently in high-voltage construction environments and who brings both technical depth and professional credibility to complex infrastructure projects. This is not an entry-level or purely design-office role. It requires mature judgement, project accountability, and the ability to engage across multidisciplinary teams.

Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience in at least one of the following:

• HV Substation Design and Execution (132/88 kV and similar)
• HV Overhead Line Design and Execution (132/88 kV and similar)
• MV and LV Reticulation Design and Execution
• Renewable or Alternative Energy Projects

• Control, Protection and SCADA Systems
• Earthing and Lightning Protection
• Structural and Civil components associated with substation platforms and foundations

• Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience within construction-driven project environments
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Exposure to MS Projects, Retic Master, Bentley MicroStation or similar design software will be advantageous

• Technically decisive and detail-oriented
• Comfortable taking ownership within high-value infrastructure projects
• Flexible and willing to contribute across broader office requirements when necessary
• Valid driver's license and own vehicle for site travel

This role is best suited to a senior engineer seeking meaningful project involvement within a technically respected environment rather than a routine consulting position.
