Senior Draughtsperson / Civil Modeller

R450K to R750K annual (negotiable)

LOCATION: Krugersdorp

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Draughtsperson / Civil Modeller to join their design team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality engineering drawings and 3D models, contributing to digital design deliverables aligned with modern BIM and ISO 19650-based workflows. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
  • National Certificate or Diploma in: Multi-disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP) or Civil / Structural Engineering
Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience as a draughtsperson within civil engineering, structural engineering, or infrastructure design
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or Inventor
  • Strong ability to work independently on complex drawings and modelling tasks with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of design standards, documentation requirements, and drawing office practices
  • Proven ability to interpret technical information, engineering sketches, and design notes accurately
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
Advantageous
  • Understanding of BIM methodologies and ISO 19650 information management principles (CDE workflows, naming conventions, metadata, revision control)
  • Experience working with ACC Docs
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary civil infrastructure projects (roads, earthworks, stormwater, municipal or structural environments)
  • Experience using additional Autodesk tools such as InfraWorks, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Inventor, or Revit
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with engineers, technologists, and project teams
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement and digital design processes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D civil models for infrastructure and structural projects
  • Translate conceptual designs, engineer mark-ups, and specifications into accurate, construction-ready documentation
  • Apply structured digital workflows aligned with BIM principles, including model organisation and revision control
  • Maintain drawing accuracy, version control, and adherence to internal drafting and BIM standards
  • Perform digital terrain modelling, alignments, corridors, pipe networks, and quantity extractions
  • Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and project managers to ensure coordinated design outputs
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to team capability development and knowledge sharing
  • Uphold professional, ethical, and communication standards in all interactions
