Sevra Company Overview Sevra Engineering & Project Management Consultants LLC (Sevra) is a specialist marine engineering consultancy with head offices in the United Arab Emirates and a branch office in Cape Town, South Africa. Established in 2025, Sevra was founded with the objective of building a technically rigorous, commercially astute consultancy focused exclusively on marine and coastal infrastructure. The company combines deep regional experience with efficient, high-quality delivery models to provide practical engineering solutions for complex maritime projects.

Sevra delivers services across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage master planning and feasibility through to detailed design and construction supervision. The firm's core technical capabilities include coastal numerical modelling, coastal engineering, marine structural engineering, marine geotechnics, dredging and reclamation design, and construction-phase engineering support. Sevra's work spans ports and terminals, waterfront developments, marinas, breakwaters, shoreline protection schemes, and specialist marine infrastructure.

Job Overview The Senior Draftsperson will play a critical role in the delivery of marine and coastal infrastructure projects from Sevra's Cape Town office. The role carries responsibility for the production, coordination, and quality control of detailed engineering drawings and models for marine structures and associated infrastructure.

This position requires an experienced marine-focused draftsperson capable of working independently, understanding engineering intent, and translating complex structural and coastal designs into clear, accurate, and construction-ready documentation.

The Senior Draftsperson will act as Sevra's lead drafting authority in Cape Town, ensuring drawing outputs are technically aligned, professionally presented, and issued in accordance with project standards, codes, and client requirements. The role includes close coordination with UAE-based engineers and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities Marine Drafting Accountability
  • Take full responsibility for the quality, accuracy and consistency of all drafting ouputs for marine and coastal projects delivered from the Cape Town office.
  • Produce and check detailed drawings, general arrangements, sections, details, and reinforcement drawings for marine structures.
  • Ensure all drawing deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and compliant with applicable standards and project specifications.
Technical Delivery Detailed Engineering Drawings and Digital Models:
  • Quay walls (sheet pile, combi-wall, diaphragm wall, gravity and block walls)
  • Jetties, piers, deck-on-pile structures, and dolphins
  • Fender systems and mooring arrangements
  • Revetments, breakwaters, and shoreline protection structures
  • Marine foundations, pile layouts, and structural connections
  • Dredging, reclamation, and associated marine works
Preparation of 3D Modelling & Visualization:
  • Develop basic 3D models of marine structures and waterfront layouts to support design coordination and client presentations.
  • Produce simple 3D renders and visual outputs to assist with technical communication, tender submissions, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist engineers in spatial coordination of structural, geotechnical, and coastal elements through model-based workflows.
  • Develop terrain surfaces, design surfaces, and grading models using Civil 3D.
  • Prepare dredging and reclamation volume estimates based on existing and proposed levels.
  • Generate cross-sections, long-sections, and volume reports to support feasibility studies and detailed design stages.
  • Support breakwater and revetment quantity take-offs, including rock volumes and armour quantities.
Drawing Package Production:
  • Produce reinforcement detailing and structural connection drawings.
  • Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, and coastal engineers to resolve technical queries and ensure constructability.
  • Prepare drawing packages for concept, tender, detailed design, and construction stages.
  • Assist with preparation of as-built drawings and site redline updates.
Quality Assurance & Risk
  • Establish and maintain drawing standards, templates, layering systems, and title block controls.
  • Perform internal checking and peer review of drawings prior to issue.
  • Coordinate interfaces between structural, civil, and coastal disciplines to ensure integrated drawing outputs.
  • Support offshore coordination with UAE front office and project managers.
Team & Practice Development
  • Contribute to the development of internal drafting standards and workflows.
  • Mentor and guide junior draftspersons and CAD technicians.
  • Assist in improving digital workflows, BIM integration, and model-based coordination where applicable.
  • Support tender submissions with drawing inputs and conceptual visuals.

  • Strong capability in producing accurate general arrangement drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and detailed construction drawings.
  • High-level competence in reinforcement detailing, structural detailing, and preparation of bar bending schedules where required.
  • Clear understanding of drafting standards, layering conventions, title block control, scaling, annotation, and drawing presentation.
  • Ability to produce clear, coordinated, and construction-ready drawing packages suitable for tender and IFC (Issued for Construction) stages.
  • Experience in preparing and coordinating large drawing sets across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, drawing consistency, and revision control.
  • Ability to identify drawing inconsistencies, missing information, or coordination clashes and proactively raise queries with engineers.
  • Familiarity with detailing requirements for marine durability, corrosion protection systems, and coastal construction practices.
  • Experience preparing as-built drawings based on contractor mark-ups and site information.
Software & Digital Tools
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (essential).
