A proudly South African OEM with an established international footprint in the mining and minerals processing sector is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Engineer to join its specialised engineering team.
This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially capable engineering professional with proven experience managing mineral processing projects and aftermarket contracts within mining environments. The successful candidate will take ownership of multiple projects simultaneously - managing the full contract lifecycle from project handover through procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and final delivery.
The position offers exposure to both local and cross-border mining projects and requires someone who can confidently step into an operational environment and independently manage complex engineering contracts from day one.
About the RoleAs a Senior Contracts Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple engineering contracts of varying size, scope, and complexity across mining and mineral processing operations.
You will work closely with clients, suppliers, fabricators, and internal engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This is a high-responsibility role that combines technical engineering expertise with strong project execution, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities- Independently manage multiple engineering contracts and projects simultaneously
- Take ownership of projects from contract award through to installation and commissioning
- Review and interpret project scope, technical specifications, and client requirements
- Coordinate procurement, supplier engagement, fabrication, and manufacturing activities
- Manage project schedules, budgets, reporting, and resource planning
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams throughout project execution
- Ensure projects are delivered according to technical, commercial, and quality requirements
- Coordinate installation and commissioning activities on local and international sites
- Resolve technical and commercial challenges throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor project risks, timelines, and contractual obligations
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards and project procedures
- Support commercial discussions, project costing, and variation management where required
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience as a Contracts Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar projectexecution role within mining or mineral processing environments
- Strong experience with mineral processing and liquid-solid separationtechnologies essential
- Proven ability to manage multiple engineering contracts andprojects simultaneously
- Strong technical understanding of mining process equipment and projectexecution
- Experience managing suppliers, procurement, fabrication, installation, andcommissioning activities
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage professionally with clients, suppliers, contractors, andproject stakeholders
- Willingness to travel locally and cross-border as required
- Ability to pass mine-required medical examinations and criminal background screening
- Highly competitive salary package aligned to experience, technical capability, and industry exposure
- Expected range up to R1,100,000 CTC for suitably experienced candidates
- Performance-based incentives (typically 10% - 20% of annual CTC, linked to company performance)
