What will you do?

The purpose of the role is to provide new and existing clients with professional and relevant financial advice, planning and products (sales) that are suited to their needs and requirements. The role involves procuring sustainable business in line with set targets, maintaining and servicing clients within a long term relationship that builds brand loyalty, and performing all activities in a compliant and ethical manner.

1. Assist in growing the Sanlam Adviser Business
  • Commit to the marketing plan and targets set for business growth as per the distribution strategy.
  • Apply knowledge of market segmentation and customer profiles to support sales and growth within the defined market.
  • Achieve targets related to revenue generation (single and recurring premiums), activity quotas, brand promotion, and customer fairness.
2. Networking, prospecting and lead generation
  • Engage in face to face interactions, business or social events to create opportunities.
  • Prospect new clients through business networks, associations, and presentations.
  • Convert trusted relationships into business opportunities and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Leverage existing sources to uncover opportunities across Sanlam businesses.
  • Develop personalised client value propositions and utilise social media for marketing.
  • Identify marketing gaps and sales opportunities within the middle high and affluent markets.
  • Implement focused campaigns with new or existing clients in the defined market.
  • Request active leads and referrals from collaborators.
  • Monitor and respond to client activities such as maturities, cancellations, or surrenders.
3. Client consultations and sales
  • Ensure all client interactions are compliant with disclosure and advice requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact finding to determine client needs and priorities.
  • Perform financial needs analyses using relevant tools or services of a para planner.
  • Provide sound personal financial planning advice and develop balanced portfolio solutions.
  • Present financial solutions professionally, aligned with customer fairness principles.
  • Use system tools to capture and update analysis information.
  • Review client portfolios annually using the above processes.
4. Client Service
  • Maintain ethical, courteous, and professional client interactions.
  • Refer and resolve existing business queries in a timely manner.
  • Provide value added service to retain clients and prevent switching to competitors.
  • Engage in continuous learning of market and industry issues to better serve clients.
  • Initiate long term client relationships with a relational focus.
5. Monitor, update and reporting (weekly/monthly)

Document and present the following activities:

  • Number and profile of contacts, appointments, and consultations.
  • Issued business and revenue against targets.
  • Updated client details in records.
  • Appropriate workflow and activity monitor system entries.
Qualification and Experience
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successfully completed the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) "Fit and Proper" requirements and Regulatory Examination, if registered with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) for more than 24 months.
