Job Description
Position: Registered Nurse - ICU Qualified at Life Entabeni Hospital (ICU). Report to Unit Manager.
Overview: Provide holistic and optimal quality nursing care to critically ill patients in order to maximize positive outcomes for the customer in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide quality basic and specialized nursing care.
- Maintain continual communication with the patient and family regarding the patient's condition.
- Administer medication in accordance with ethical and legal framework.
- Review and comply with internal policies and protocols.
- Ensure quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specification.
- Advocate the patient, motivating acuity to case management and notifying the doctor of any limitations.
- Interact and communicate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide training and development to ensure personal and professional growth.
- Ensure the ICU team works according to scope of practice to maintain correct skills mix.
- Manage all stock used according to unit specific policies and protocols.
- Control and manage staff hours leave in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain a safe and holistic patient environment, enforcing infection control.
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports to the SHEQ Coordinator.
- Conduct in service orientation on doctor specific preferences.
- Execute doctor's requests and prescriptions after patient rounds.
- Assist multidisciplinary team members with execution of their duties.
- Check equipment and instrumentation daily, report defaults to Unit Manager and Clinical Engineer.
- Educate and supervise staff and doctors on correct utilisation of specialised equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensure records are accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
- Rotation on day and night duty.
- Registered at SANC as a Registered Nurse.
- 2 year ICU Qualification is compulsory.
