What will the role be about We are looking for a versatile and experienced technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on both refrigerated units and diesel-powered vehicles within our rental fleet.This role is key to ensuring vehicle reliability, refrigeration performance, and high customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on refrigerated units and diesel vehicles. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults. Conduct leak tests, pressure checks, and component replacements on refrigeration systems. Troubleshoot diesel engines, fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, steering, and hydraulics. Prepare vehicles for rental by ensuring full mechanical and refrigeration functionality. Respond to breakdowns and provide technical assistance on-site when required. Complete technical inspections before and after rentals. Maintain accurate service records and job cards. Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations. Report major technical issues to the Workshop Manager and propose corrective actions. Work closely with workshop teams and branch operations. Provide technical guidance to junior staff when required. Who are we looking for Trade Test Certificate in Transport Refrigeration and Diesel Mechanics (Artisan qualification preferred). Minimum 3-5 years of experience Experience with refrigerated transport systems is a strong advantage. Experience with Thermo King or Carrier Transicold units is highly preferred. Valid South African driver's licence. Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Good communication skills and customer-service mindset. Attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
