Reagent Manufacturing Scientist

Reagent Manufacturing Scientist - Roche Diagnostics, Cape Town (1-year fixed-term contract).

• Conduct and monitor production activities or laboratory experiments using established procedures or batch records, ensuring quality, timeliness, and workflow management.
• Maintain accuracy and quality of production work or testing activities, summarizing batch or experimental results in clear reports and documentation.
• Communicate results, experimental outcomes, and project status to supervisors, highlighting significant findings or critical issues.
• Analyze and interpret test results and experimental data using data analysis software, spreadsheets, or quantitative methods.
• Present findings at internal team meetings as required.
• Document methodologies and results in batch records or laboratory notebooks, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent record-keeping.
• Troubleshoot equipment or instrumentation issues, analyze problems, and implement solutions with guidance.
• Maintain positive internal and cross-functional relationships, and engage with customers where applicable.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

• Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• At least 3 years of relevant industry experience or general laboratory experience.
• Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology and biochemistry laboratory techniques.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Manufacturing Instructions (MI) and Work Instructions (WI).
• Experience with protein purification techniques and enzyme analysis.
• Experience with AKTAs (FPLC) or HPLC advantageous.
• Working knowledge of relevant international ISO Standards (13485) advantageous.
• Proficient in computer use with basic word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, task management, and multitasking skills.
• Capability to work without supervision under pressure.

This is a 1-year fixed-term contract; relocation benefits are not available for this role.
