Job Description

The Quality Control Inspector will lead quality control efforts, oversee inspections, and ensure compliance with Company, Code, Specifications, and Client requirements.

Reports to: Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager, this role is crucial in ensuring the excellence and reliability of our products within the petrochemical sector.

Location: Cape Town

Schedule: Full-time

Salary: Market-related and commensurate with experience

Responsibilities General/ Administrative Tasks
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality inspection procedures and work instruction documents.
  • Formulate and update test inspection plans (Inspection and Test Plans - ITPs) in alignment with project requirements.
  • Liaise with managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with third party inspection teams as needed.
  • Prepare quality documentation for client site visits, inspections, and audits.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date data dossiers and records.
Technical Inspection Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of materials and equipment, ensuring adherence to relevant specifications.
  • Perform visual and dimensional checks of fabrications against manufacturing drawings.
  • Verify that all welding operations adhere to Company requirements, Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Client specifications, National Standard Practices, and Codes.
  • Generate comprehensive inspection reports and manage non conforming outputs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a (SOE), Utility, or Petrochemical environment.
  • Welding Inspector South African Institute of Welding (SAIW) Level 2 or equivalent certification.
  • Grade 12/N3 qualification.
  • Trade Certificate in Fitting, Turning, Welding, or Boiler making is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years satisfactory experience as a Quality Control Inspector.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of various inspections required by Codes.
  • Experience in heavy engineering fabrication environments, including Pressurized Systems, Structural Steelwork, Radiographic Testing (RT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), drawing interpretation, Materials, Machining, Welding, Corrosion protection, Measurement and measuring equipment with calibrations, work with Third Party, and compiling of Data Books.
Nice to Have (Not Required) Qualifications and Experiences
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) certification.
  • Safety, Health, and Environmental Representative (SHE Rep) experience.
