JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for preparingdetailed project cost estimates and comprehensive proposals for electrical andautomation projects. This role involves collaborating with sales, engineering,and other teams to understand client requirements and develop solutions thatmeet their needs. The Proposal Engineer analyzes requests for proposals (RFPs)and requests for quotations (RFQs), reviews technical requirements anddrawings, and coordinates with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain necessaryinformation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Matric (Grade 12)
  
• ND inElectrical Engineering
  
• B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Advantage)
  

• Project ManagementAccreditation, Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Membership, ormembership in a relevant proposals professional body
  

• General tender/contractualprocesses, requirements, and terminology
  
• Cost and work package estimationtechniques
  
• Intermediate workingknowledge of Microsoft Excel and manipulating calculations.
  
• Basic understanding of variableSpeed Drives, MCC, PLC & SCADA
  
• Basic understanding ofelectrical and automation engineering concepts, components, systems,methodologies and processes.
  
• Building and Construction -Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction orrepair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
  
• Design Knowledge of design techniques, tools, andprinciples involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints,drawings, and models
  

EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years' Experience offormal estimating and pricing bids and proposal experience in an electricalengineering environment, industrial electrical projects and tenders, includingexperience with Motor Control Centers (MCC) and Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) projects.
  
• 3.5 years' Experience inreading and analysing requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for quotation(RFQs).
  
• Experience with reading andanalyzing technical requirements and drawings, with knowledge of Variable SpeedDrives and SCADA systems.
  
• Experience in the water and wastewater treatmentindustry (Advantage)
  

• Attention to Detail - Job requires beingcareful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
  
• Excellentclient-facing and internal communication skills
  
• Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills using English language sufficient toperform job functions
  
• Able to workin a fast-paced environment
  
• Demonstrated ability to cope with stress andmaintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and externalcustomers
  
• Strong technical mindset and able to read andinterpret technical data and translate to others
  
• Highly numerate with the ability to research,assemble manage and manipulate numerical information
