Production Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Coordinator to oversee and optimize daily laboratory production activities.
About the RoleThis role is critical in ensuring efficient workflow, effective resource utilization, and consistent achievement of turnaround times (TAT) while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
You will act as the central link between sample preparation, analytical departments, quality control, logistics, and client services-ensuring seamless coordination across all functions.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily laboratory workflow across departments
- Monitor production schedules, capacity, and work queues to meet turnaround targets
- Track progress of samples and work orders through all production stages
- Prioritize tasks based on client requirements, contractual obligations, and operational constraints
- Identify and escalate delays, backlogs, and resource challenges proactively
- Support achievement of production targets through problem solving and coordination
- Ensure timely approval and release of work orders
- Assist in monitoring stock levels to maintain production continuity
- Prepare reports on missed TATs, including root causes and corrective actions
- Participate in production planning and operational meetings
- Collaborate with Client Services to manage incoming sample schedules
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including TAT optimization and ETA accuracy
- Assist with root cause investigations and non conformance reporting
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and analytical processes (e.g., sample prep, wet chemistry, ICP, XRF, Fire Assay)
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and laboratory quality systems
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems)
- Solid problem solving and root cause analysis skills
- Commercial awareness in delivering efficient and profitable services

- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry/Science or related field
- Alternatively, strong relevant experience in Geochemistry or laboratory operations
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a laboratory production or coordination role
