Process Engineering Lead

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensures plant operates within the prescribed process parameters
  • Conducts plant health assessments and reviews findings with the greater production team
  • Conducts routine production reconciliation and reports on process performance
  • Ensures quality performance meets product and customer specifications
  • Reviews quality performance and shares findings with the greater production teams
  • Manages grade change process
  • Provides production support to the S&OP process
  • Manages investigations following significant incidents and production excursions
  • Assists with HAZOP and PHR studies
  • Assists with the generations of statutory environmental reports
  • Provide DCS process control support
  • Short term process optimization
  • Initiation and delivery of process and plant improvements
  • Champions technology transfer to site
  • Provides support for OE and CoE initiatives
  • Assists production and maintenance teams with trouble shooting
  • Provides mentoring for DCS operators and operations Trainers on the efficient operation of the plant
  • Provides specific operating guidelines to enable the Operations Trainers to develop and deliver standard operating procedures
  • Ensure technical documentation are correct and up to date
  • General administrative tasks
Safe and Healthy Work environment
  • Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations and practices. Comply with SHEC- and technical requirements, in line with Plant / Mine availability targets. Monitor, identify and respond to defects and / or sub-standard equipment performance and other improvement opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
  • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities whilst keeping abreast of new developments within the specialist field.
  • Conduct research work in order to initiate process changes.
  • Act as Business Improvement process champion by liaising with other development sections.
  • Conduct desktop and pre-feasibility studies toward improving process flow
Customer and Client Relationship Management
  • Liaise with internal and external customers, relevant statutory bodies to ensure sound business relationship management toward meeting client needs.
  • Ensure Tronox's image is maintained and promoted at all times (internally and externally).
  • Provide a professional / specialist advisory support service with regard to production / product quality across different levels within the organisation.
Project Management
  • Evaluate and complete projects with minimum risk, within allocated timeframes and according to specified budgetary requirements.
  • Manage projects with regard to processes, technology and equipment
Qualifications & Experience
  • BTech/ BSc / BEng: Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering Discipline, (Mandatory)
  • Driver's License Code 8 (Mandatory)
  • 6 - 8 years in a Metallurgical Plant / Operating within a Heavy Mineral Industry Environment (Mandatory)
