The position will be responsible for overseeing a collection of projects (portfolio) aligned to the Foundation's strategic priorities. This role ensures that all projects within the portfolio are delivered to scope, time, and budget while maintaining compliance with governance and MEL requirements. In addition to delivery, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing funding and partnerships to sustain and grow the portfolio. The Portfolio Manager provides strategic leadership, ensuring that the combined portfolio of projects contributes to measurable impact and hope.

You bring:

  • Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, Development Studies, Business, or related field
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 5-7 years in programme/project management, with end-to-end delivery responsibility
  • Experience managing budgets, risks, MEL inputs, and multi-stakeholder projects.

A bonus to have:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional - PMI) or PRINCE2 Practitioner preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project proposals and secure funding

What You'll Do For The Brand:

  • Oversee planning, implementation, and monitoring of multiple projects within the Foundation focus areas.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with Foundation strategy and operating model.
  • Manage budgets, risks, resources, and reporting across the portfolio.
  • Apply governance stage-gates and RAPID decision-making protocols consistently.

Project Development & Funding

  • Identify new opportunities within the portfolio focus area.
  • Develop project concept notes, budgets, and proposals for approval.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with funders, corporates, and development agencies.
  • Secure resources and co-funding to sustain portfolio delivery.
  • Work with PMO, MEL, Ops, and Marketing to co-design and deliver projects.
  • Ensure provincial teams (Senior Project Coordinators, Coordinators, Administrators) are effectively deployed.
  • Engage partners and communities in the design and refinement of projects.
  • Ensure MEL frameworks are integrated across the portfolio.
  • Oversee data collection and evidence-based reporting.
  • Use findings to adapt projects and refine portfolio strategy.

Coaching & Leadership

  • Provide direction and coaching to Senior Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Administrators working on portfolio projects.
  • Mentor staff to build the next generation of project leaders.
  • Model the Foundation's values and promote a culture of disciplined delivery.
