Porter

A vacancy for a Porter has become available at Life Kingsbury Hospital, Cape Town. This position reports to Shaun Lawrence, Services Manager and will be part of a professional team that strives for the highest standards of quality in healthcare.

• Professional interaction with clients.
• Transport patients from reception to wards and vice versa.
• Assist patients with wheelchair from vehicles to reception, emergency unit and via stretcher to respective wards from emergency unit.
• Porter patients requiring assistance on discharge from nursing unit or treatment area to hospital exit/vehicle.
• Check wheelchairs for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs.
• Collect and record all prescriptions cards, credits and requisitions from the wards.
• Record and deliver ethical and surgical stock to wards safely, securely and timeously.
• Move furniture, stores and medical equipment safely.
• Set up venues for meetings and functions.
• Transfer files, specimen samples and pharmacy boxes to different areas in the hospital.
• Move cylinders of gas within the hospital.
• Perform general administrative and other related duties as requested.

• Matric.
• Physically fit, possess physical strength for heavy boxes, drive and energy.
• Experience in customer service/dealing with customers.
• Experience in healthcare is an advantage.
• Able to work in a team.
• Responsible, meticulous and efficient.
• Good time management with the ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team.
• Ability to work shifts on a rotational basis. Night shift will be required.
