A company in the renewable space is seeking a highly experienced Part-time Bookkeeper to provide finance support across three SMEs, for approximately 8 hours per week, spread over two mornings. This is an independent contractor position with a hybrid work arrangement: initial in-person training in Fourways, thereafter primarily remote.
Responsibilities:
- Manage cash flow and oversee cash movements
- Reconcile cashbooks between Standard Bank Business Online accounts and Xero
- Validate and allocate credit card and fleet card expenses
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit VAT, provisional tax, and corporate tax
- Liaise with external auditors and support annual financial statements and CIPC filings
- Manage debtors: follow up on outstanding amounts and send statements
- Manage creditors: invoice capture and preparation of supplier payments
- Compile month-end management reporting packs, including P&L and spend trends (top 5 customers, suppliers, expense categories)
- Process weekly and ad hoc payments
- Payroll process flow (start to finish) processing on Payspace, statutory submissions (EMP201, EMP501), IRP5 availability, and UIF submissions.
- Provide financial guidance and advice to CEO and Office Manager
- Support and mentor Finance Administrators
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Minimum 5 years' senior finance experience, preferably in multi-entity SMEs
- Advanced Xero proficiency (Certified Associate or equivalent)
- SARS eFiling and SARS EasyFile experience
- Experience with Deel Local Payroll by Payspace advantageous
- Strong bookkeeping, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance skills
- Ability to provide sound financial advice to management
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Comfortable with remote work after initial training
- Ability to travel to Fourways for initial training
