Overview

The Immerse Experience at Camp of the Hills is designed to equip young adults with a deeper understanding of Christ-centered leadership through the development of professional skills, hands on ministry opportunities, and intentional discipleship within a Christian camp environment. This occurs through behind the-scenes work, up front leadership opportunities, interactions with campers and guests, mentoring relationships, and working alongside Camp staff and volunteers with a shared purpose and vision.

About the Internship

The Outdoor Education Intern will specifically help our Outdoor Education Director with events for kids ages Pre K to 12th grade. We offer a variety of experiences for private schools, public schools, and homeschool groups such as field trips, overnight trips, day camps, and TimberNook therapeutic play experiences.

The Internship offers resume building responsibilities in event planning, event hosting, activity facilitation, guest communication, curriculum/activity development, and hospitality services.

Our program specializes in the following activities:

  • Adventure Activities: Archery, canoeing/kayaking, low ropes, high ropes, sling shot, forest forts, survivalist
  • Creative Activities: rock stacking, natural dyes, landscape painting, story telling
  • Educational Activities: social emotional learning, team building challenges, bees, pollinators, gardening, aquaponics, symbiotic relationships, etc.

Our Outdoor Education program is important in maximizing the use of camp's facilities during the non summer months (Sept-May) and for generating income that allows us to fulfill our Summer Camp mission of offering low cost camps to kids from low income and at risk backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Outdoor Education Director with event planning and execution across various age groups
  • Support hosting of field trips, overnight and day camps for private, public, and homeschool groups
  • Facilitate adventure, creative, and educational activities
  • Communicate with guests and families regarding program details
  • Help develop curricula and activity guides
  • Provide hospitality services to campers and staff
