Introduction

To oversee and manage all areas and functions in the CSDP with regards to regulatory compliance and overall functioning

CSDP Management
  • Reduce the exposure to risk by ensuring that internal processes, rules, procedures, policies as well as Strate's Rules and Directives and any other relevant legislation is adhered to.
  • Maintain systems, ensure that systems can deal with updates of shareholder information and shareholders are kept within the correct structures.
  • Release payments, ensure recons are done with understanding the bank accounts and be aware of margin income.
  • Report from a finance perspective to relevant Stakeholders.
  • Manage and oversee the monthly billing process and provide monthly revenue accruals to the Australian Accounts team.
  • Assist the compliance department with internal and external audits.
  • Ensure the effective, efficient, economical, and transparent use of financial and other resources.
  • Monitor expenditure against budget and ensure spending occurs within budgetary limits
  • Explore opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
Governance
  • Design and implement all required policies, procedures, processes and related requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor the operation of controls and procedures to ensure the integrity of the company.
  • Develop and maintain a quality assurance and improvement program that covers all aspects of the policy and risk activity.
  • Identify and monitor departmental risks and develop and maintain a risk register.
  • Establish and maintain a system to monitor the dispositions of results.
Stakeholder Management
  • Manage key relationship with Wealthport.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Represent JIS CSDP in meetings with stakeholders including various Strate working and steering committees and CSDP forum.
  • Solve problems creatively whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with the company's core values.
  • Provide advice and guidance to relevant parties on stakeholder related matters
  • Manage relationships in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
People Management
  • Monitor and measure performance according to policy by conducting employee appraisals.
  • Identify areas of development and draws up action plans to address poor performance.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of employees.
  • Address employee relation matters fairly and promptly.
  • Set performance objectives for team by cascading of the organisation's initiatives into individual performance contracts.
  • Ensure that all employees have signed performance agreements.
  • Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance
  • Manage IR/ ER Related matters effectively.
  • Degree
  • Strate Equities Compliance Officer modules 1 - 3, South African Institute of Financial Markets (SAIFM)
  • 5 - 8 years of operational experience, of which 3 should be on a managerial level
Knowledge and Skills required
  • Excellent understanding of Strate rules and regulations.
  • Custodial Services knowledge.
  • Understanding of other relevant regulatory environment, laws, acts and rules.
