OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

Polokwane Chemical Suppliers (Phatsima) is seeking a detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety Officer to be based in the Polokwane area. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out duties in a structured and systematic manner, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations while operating in accordance with the company's code of ethics and established value system.

• Ensure compliance of all company facilities with the requirements of applicable health and safety legislation. Support the development of OHS policies and program.
• Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery, etc)
• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measure.
• Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
• Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity.
• Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances.
• Prevent any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.

• Matric/Grade 12
• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3-4 years' experience in OHS
• Knowledge of ISO standards and a good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act
