Position Overview

We are seeking a Nursing Services Coordinator to lead nursing clinical practice and resources within the acute Rehabilitation Unit at Life Entabeni Hospital, part of Life Healthcare's expanding rehabilitation network. The role reports to the Rehabilitation Practice Manager and focuses on achieving quality, growth, and people objectives.

Key Responsibilities Critical Outputs
  • Develop and implement a sustainable growth strategy to meet the nursing unit's activity targets.
  • Ensure early and equitable access for all appropriate patients, including Life to Life referrals.
  • Actively engage with referral bases, including specialists, funders, and stakeholders.
Effective Clinical Leadership
  • Lead implementation of rehabilitation nursing care plans and coordinate delivery of appropriate treatment plans within MDT programs for optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a nursing clinical expert to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure staff competence, drive professional socialization criteria, foster a learning environment, and provide feedback.
  • Promote patient satisfaction, address complaints, conduct quality care rounds and audits, and report findings.
  • Implement national quality initiatives focused on improved clinical outcomes and report accordingly.
  • Identify clinical and safety risks, implement corrective actions, and monitor ongoing trends.
  • Initiate and drive unit specific best practices, communicate them widely, and participate in hospital marketing initiatives.
Effective Leadership and People Management
  • Demonstrate visible leadership aligned with LHC values and the rehabilitation operating model; sponsor initiatives to enhance productivity.
  • Drive and manage all nursing related processes within the unit.
  • Contribute to positive relationships among all Rehabilitation interdisciplinary team members.
Effective Financial Management (including Equipment)
  • Participate in business planning and budgeting; manage nursing costs within budget limits.
  • Oversee stock utilization and product management with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure staff are trained in equipment operation and maintain safe patient environments.
Effective Relationship with Internal & External Stakeholders
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including HODs, enabling functions, patients, family, and service providers.
  • Drive CPD initiatives to promote rehabilitation as a specialized field.
  • Create a unit culture that promotes business objectives, performance orientation, customer focus, and teamwork.
  • Act as constructive liaison between the rehabilitation unit and other hospital functions.
  • Promote and maintain productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in rehabilitation.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in nursing.
  • Current registration with SANC.
  • Experience in ICU/Emergency and/or rehabilitation settings (advantageous).
  • Proven leadership and people management skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Clear understanding of labour legislation, financial and chain management principles.
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare or funder industry and its challenges (advantageous).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Driver's license and willingness to travel.
