The UMP invites applications for the following position/s.

Job Title: New Generation of Academic Programme (nGAP): Accounting

Organisational Unit: University of Mpumalanga - Teaching and Learning - Faculty of Economics, Development and Business Sciences

Job Primary Purpose: To teach Accounting modules, conduct research, participate in community engagement and provide leadership at discipline level.

Key Performance Areas
  • Leadership - The provision of some leadership at module level.
  • Teaching & Learning - Provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching.
  • Research - Some evidence of research activities.
  • Engagement - Some evidence of engagement activities.
Applicants Qualifications
  • Applicants must have at least an MCom Accounting degree in Financial Accounting or related fields.
  • Registration with a professional body such as SAICA, CIMA, SAIPA, or IIA is an added advantage.
  • Be a South African Citizen.
  • Prospective candidates should have achieved an average of 70% or above in the preceding degree, which should be a minimum of a Master's degree.
  • Be 40 years or younger.
  • Be prepared and able to undertake and complete postgraduate studies at the doctoral level.
Competencies and Skills
  • Leadership - Good interpersonal skills including communication skills.
  • Teaching & Learning - An appreciation of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and some skills as a tutor or mentor.
  • Research - Some research skills.
  • Engagement - An understanding of the role of Universities in Engagement.
Personal Attributes
  • People oriented, hard worker, responsible, reliable, creative and innovative.
  • Respectful, honest, punctual and understand protocol.
  • Proven attributes of transparency, integrity and teamwork.
  • Good interpersonal skills including communication skills.
