Introduction

To develop and lead implementation of national and regional sales plans and initiatives within store operations in order to accelerate sales growth and enhance operational excellence in line with business objectives and targets. This role will be based in the Head Office, Cape Town.

Job Objectives
  • To identify national and regional opportunities to increase sales that strengthen commercial performance and support business growth.
  • To develop national sales plans and translate them into clear, actionable regional objectives that supports the business strategy.
  • To lead national sales projects and initiatives that enhance sales execution, improve store performance, and create scalable sales practices.
  • To strengthen operational execution across regions to ensure consistent store standards, reduce variation, and support a reliable customer experience.
  • To enhance the customer experience across all stores by embedding strong sales practices and service standards that create a competitive value offering.
  • To monitor national and regional sales performance, analyse trends, and provide insights that guide decision making and shape future sales plans.
  • To collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to secure alignment and enable smooth execution of sales plans and business priorities.
  • To build the sales capability of regional and store teams to improve execution, strengthen performance consistency, and prepare the business for future growth.
  • To lead, support and develop the sales teams to build capability, strengthen performance and ensure a high performance culture that consistently delivers against sales and operational priorities.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Essential: Grade 12, Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Formal training or certification in sales management, leadership, or operational management is advantageous.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualification, or equivalent with a focus on strategy, leadership, or commercial management. Additional professional development or certifications in finance for non financial managers, change management, or analytics.
  • Participation in recognised retail or FMCG leadership development programmes.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in sales, operations, or commercial roles within a large scale retail or FMCG environment.
  • 8 years' experience managing or coordinating projects across multiple sites, regions, or geographies.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing senior or middle management teams, such as Regional Sales Managers or equivalent roles.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering sales targets and scorecard outcomes across multiple sites or regions.
  • Hands on experience in sales performance management, including KPI setting, monitoring, and corrective action.
  • Solid experience in implementing and enforcing standard operating procedures within a complex, multi site operation.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, process driven environment with strong governance requirements.
