Are you a hands-on Trade Tested Millwright with a passion for maintenance and problem-solving?
Our client an established manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Millwright to join their Injection Moulding Department and ensure machinery, equipment, and infrastructure are kept in excellent working order at their branch in Isando, Gauteng.


Position: Millwright


Location: Isando, Gauteng


Direct Report: Production Manager


Industry: Packaging


Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Minimum N3 in Millwright Trade Theory

  • Trade Tested Millwright (Red Seal)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience post trade test, preferably in plastics manufacturing

  • Experience in blow moulding processes (advantageous)

  • Knowledge of injection moulding and reheat stretch blow moulding processes

  • Strong fault finding and troubleshooting skills (electrical & mechanical)

  • Sound understanding of engineering drawings and technical schematics

  • Experience working with hand and power tools (welder, milling machine, lathe, etc.)

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems

  • Strong understanding of workshop and toolroom practices

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe working procedures

  • Ability to work overtime, including weekend and night call-outs


Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Fault Finding

  • Conduct fault analysis and problem solving across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Identify, report and rectify technical issues on assigned equipment

  • Maintain responsibility for workshop, services room (compressed air, cooling water) and technical infrastructure

  • Monitor and maintain factory infrastructure including water and air supply systems

  • Maintain company vehicle (where applicable)


Repairs & Maintenance

  • Repair defective equipment and tooling as assigned

  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans

  • Perform routine maintenance (oil, grease, inspections)

  • Identify required spares and manage preventative spare part planning

  • Document all maintenance activities according to maintenance schedules

  • Liaise with suppliers and assist in sourcing technical services and spare parts


Construction & Installations

  • Perform factory installations including pipe work, machine installations and electrical cabling (with electrician)

  • Construct racks, stands, dividers and related structures using steel, wood or other materials


Administration & Planning

  • Log all jobs performed and maintenance activities

  • Conduct spare part analysis (stock vs breakdown sourcing)

  • Assist with maintenance budgeting and annual planning

  • Report tools and equipment requirements


Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations

  • Maintain housekeeping standards in workshops and technical areas

  • Apply GMP and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) standards


Continuous Improvement

  • Strive for technical improvements and operational efficiency

  • Keep abreast of new technologies and innovations

  • Maintain effective communication with production, planning and technical teams
