Mechanical Designer

S4 is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to work on designs for special purpose machinery.

• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting designs.
• Develop concepts and detailed 3D models for mechanical machinery or mechanisms in the CAD environment.
• Manage your workload in order to achieve deadlines. (Possible overtime when needed.)
• Consider best practice and where required, perform required calculations.
• Conform to S4's ISO process, including storing of calculations and management of data in locations as appropriate in order to comply.
• Develop detailed manufacturing drawings including general assemblies, bill of materials, and consider appropriate tolerances or special comments.
• Engage with Suppliers, Customers & internal roleplayers from different departments in order to:
  • Extract information required to undertake and complete designs
  • To ensure correct components are specified and ordered.
  • To hand over information to allow for manufacture to take place.

• At least three years of design experience specifically in the machine building arena
• Mechanical engineering diploma or related qualification
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes an advantage.
• Experience with CAD programs (Inventor software is advantageous)
• Be methodical and organised in you approach to the entire design process.
