MCC Duty Engineer
Job Description
The primary function of the MCC Duty Engineer is to provide technical support to the maintenance department and flight crews to ensure fleet health. The MCC Duty Engineer is responsible for organizing and assisting with the recovery of technical disruptions during daily operations by ensuring defects are rectified on time and as per approved procedures and quality standards. This may include assisting with spares requests after hours.

Key Responsibilities:- Act as the technical coordination link between AMO, CAMO, Flight Operations, OCC, and Commercial departments.
- Monitor aircraft serviceability and fleet status to support daily flight schedules.
- Manage and support technical delays and AOG situations, assisting with troubleshooting and recovery actions.
- Analyse technical logs and post-flight reports to identify defects, recurring faults, and required maintenance actions.
- Coordinate defect rectification with maintenance teams and ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality standards.
- Communicate aircraft status, technical delays, and incidents to OCC and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to flight crew and maintenance personnel regarding aircraft anomalies.
- Ensure accurate defect coding and technical recordkeeping to maintain reliable aircraft maintenance history.
- Liaise with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to address technical issues, software anomalies, and system defects.
- Participate in operational meetings and provide technical reporting to management.
Qualifications & Licensing
- Valid Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance License (or equivalent).
- A320 Type rating
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be a South African citizen or legally eligible to work in South Africa.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' aviation experience after obtaining relevant qualification.
- At least 2 years' experience in Continuing Airworthiness Management or a similar technical operational role.
- Previous experience within MCC, CAMO, or AMO environments.
- Experience working within a Part-M / CAMO regulatory framework.
- Familiarity with Airbus A320 aircraft systems and operations.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems troubleshooting and defect management.
- Understanding of Minimum Equipment List (MEL) procedures and aircraft serviceability management.
- Ability to analyse technical reports, defect logs, and recurring faults.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical reporting systems.
Competencies
- Technical Troubleshooting & Fault Analysis - Ability to diagnose aircraft defects, analyse technical reports, and recommend effective rectification solutions.
- Operational Coordination & Fleet Monitoring - Skilled at monitoring aircraft serviceability and coordinating between OCC, CAMO, AMO, and maintenance teams to maintain operational schedules.
- Aviation Regulatory & Airworthiness Knowledge - Strong understanding of Part-66, Part-M/CAMO environments, MEL procedures, and aviation compliance standards.
- Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration - Effective communicator capable of liaising with flight crews, engineers, operations control, and management under operational pressure.
