Job PurposeThis role is ideal for an analytical professional with strong costing, pricing, and commercial decision support experience, preferably within logistics, processing, or manufacturing environments. The successful incumbent will play a key role in providing management accounting support and insight, enabling informed commercial decisions and supporting profitable growth across the business.
Key Responsibilities Costing, Pricing & Commercial Decision Support- Develop end-to-end cost models for new business opportunities across business units.
- Lead costing inputs new business, translating commercial and operational requirements into robust, auditable cost structures.
- Re cost existing contracts for renewals, assessing the impact of volume changes, scope changes, inflation, and efficiency improvements.
- Provide pricing scenarios, margin analysis, sensitivity analysis, and benchmarking to support commercial decision making.
- Identify cost risks, margin erosion, and financial exposure, supporting escalation discussions and remediation planning.
- Conduct post implementation reviews for new business take ons by comparing actual performance to approved cost models and capturing lessons learned.
- Apply and continuously improve the Activity Based Costing (ABC) model to accurately reflect operational resource consumption.
- Identify, validate, and maintain cost drivers aligned to activities, volumes, and service complexity.
- Design, maintain, and enhance cost allocation methodologies and drivers within TM1.
- Validate costing assumptions with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance stakeholders.
- Review operational processes, supply chain design, and operating models to identify inefficiencies, cost leakage, and optimisation opportunities.
- Quantify and assess the financial impact, sustainability, and payback of cost saving initiatives.
- Produce executive level profitability reporting by business unit.
- Analyse revenue, cost, and margin performance to identify key performance drivers, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct deep dive analysis into underperforming contracts and margin erosion, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain the new business revenue and margin pipeline to support forecasting, budgeting, and growth planning.
- Deliver clear, actionable financial insights and recommendations to Executive leadership to support strategic portfolio, investment, and growth decisions.
- Lead, manage, and facilitate commercial and costing related projects.
- Identify logistics areas for process improvement and cost savings to ensure business and customer expectations are met.
- Monitor industry standards, trends, and best practices to identify developments in logistics planning or execution.
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Minimum BCom Finance/Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
- 2-3 years' management accounting experience, including commercial costing and exposure to processing or manufacturing environments.
- Planning and organisation.
- Project management.
- Advanced end user computer skills (MS Office, Project, Visio etc.).
- Verbal and written communication.
- Report writing.
- Strong computer literacy, with SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills being essential.
