Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and motivated individual to join our team. This entry level position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands on experience in industrial maintenance within a highly regulated environment. The intern will work under the guidance of senior technicians, assisting with the repair and upkeep of production equipment and machinery while upholding the highest standards of safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Support: Assist senior technicians with the troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of food processing and packaging machinery, including conveyors and mixers.
  • Adhere to Food Safety: Strictly follow all hygiene protocols, and food safety standards during all maintenance tasks to prevent product contamination.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in scheduled maintenance job cards, to ensure equipment operates reliably and safely.
  • Safety Compliance: Learn and consistently apply all safety procedures, before performing any work on equipment.
  • Administration: Help maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance work performed, which is critical for food safety audits and compliance.
Requirements
  • Minimum national senior grade 12 matric certificate, or equivalent NQF qualification
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a technical college or vocational programme in Millwright, Fitter and Turner or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude and a keen interest in a career in production and manufacturing maintenance.
  • Willingness to work in various plant conditions, which may include cool, warm, or wet environments.
  • Forklift Operator Licence would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, follow instructions precisely, and learn quickly.
