Maintenance Handyperson - Full-Time, Permanent Role

We're looking for a Maintenance Handyperson to join our team at The Rees Hotel! You'll play a key role in ensuring our hotel buildings, grounds and facilities are always maintained to the highest standard. From fixing room fittings to keeping our outdoor areas in top shape, your contributions will help create an exceptional experience for our guests.

This is a permanent role and we're recruiting to fill two positions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs and maintenance across hotel buildings, equipment, and assets
  • Keep car parks, driveways, walkways, and grounds clean and well-maintained, including managing the refuse area
  • Assist with moving and setting up furniture for conference rooms
  • Handle a variety of tasks including painting, silicone work, and general handy jobs
  • Record and update maintenance tasks in our FIIX system, ensuring timely communication of task completion
  • Prepare arrival rooms each day and conduct room audits for any damage
What We're Looking For:
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Full NZ driver's license (must be able to drive a manual vehicle)
  • Trade skills and experience with tools/equipment are highly desirable
  • Previous facilities maintenance experience is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices is preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a busy hotel environment
  • Physically fit and well-presented with attention to detail
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings (until 7pm), weekends, and public holidays
