The primary areas of responsibility include engineering maintenance & projects, site services, property maintenance, and safety through leading and supervision of all artisans. About the Role The Maintenance Foreman will be responsible for the supervision and effective time utilization of all artisans to ensure that efficient service is provided to the departmental managers, to obtain maximum manufacturing productivity.This will entail the responsibility to drive daily/weekly maintenance planning process for the site, prioritizing, scheduling and allocation of tasks to the team with the assistance of the Stock controller/ Maintenance Planner. Responsible for the Safety function of equipment and ensure a safe environment for all employees. What You Will Do Responsible for leading the maintenance team members to ensure optimal plant availability through strategic planning and maintenance execution; Ensure employee development by identifying training needs and ensuring artisans receive specialized technical training; Development and implementation of a maintenance strategy to ensure that machinery performs at an optimal level; Responsible for ensuring that the necessary resources, equipment, and skills are available to provide backup for the implementation of the maintenance plan; Responsible for ensuring that an effective service is provided to production departments in the major areas of maintenance, i.e. breakdown support, improvement and development, planned maintenance; Responsible for the continuous improvement and implementation of plans for effective cost management; Responsible for engineering expenditure management, reporting monthly variances; Ensures that high engineering standards are maintained (plant & equipment) and that critical equipment and spares are managed; Responsible for providing engineering input into fault finding and troubleshooting on automated/semi-automatic production machinery and plant; Will be appointed as G.M.R. 2.7(a) assistant to the designated supervisor of machinery in terms of the OHS Act; Ensures that all activities associated with the functions under his/her control comply with the OHS Act. Who You Are Must have Grade 12 and N6 qualification (Millwright/Mechanical/Electrical) with a valid Trade test Certificate; Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience gained in a related manufacturing environment with exposure to boilers, compressors, air-conditioning plants, and process equipment with 3 years in a supervisory capacity; Must have experience in project management; Must have strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and decision-making skills; Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail; Must be collaborative be self- motivated and have the ability to work independently; Be able to display project management and maintenance shutdown planning experience; Must have a sound working knowledge of the OHS Act.
