Job Description

Key Responsibilities General Maintenance & Compliance
  • Perform cost effective maintenance and identify inefficiencies for corrective action.
  • Maintain critical spares, consumables, and tools.
  • Participate in risk assessments and SHEQ initiatives.
  • Ensure all work is completed under correct permit to work systems (e.g., hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout).
  • Ensure compliance with AECI safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Installations & Fabrication
  • Install and commission processing equipment such as pumps, agitators, piping, and mechanical structures.
  • Conduct steel fabrication, ARC/TIG/Argon welding, pipe fitting, and troubleshooting.
  • Support planning and execution of new projects.
  • Complete maintenance records and job cards accurately.
Preventative & Breakdown Maintenance
  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on processing plant equipment, effluent systems, forklifts, pumps, and automated machinery.
  • Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic control systems.
  • Maintain good workshop housekeeping and perform additional tasks as required.
Documentation & SOPs
  • Complete maintenance checklists, job cards, and audit documentation.
  • Develop, review, and update SOPs and related documents.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal and SHEQ standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • NQF Level 3 or higher technical qualification.
  • 3-5 years' relevant millwright experience.
  • Experience in plant, production, workshop, and maintenance environments.
  • Exposure to chemical or processing plants advantageous.
  • Proven mechanical and electrical maintenance competency.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault finding capabilities.
  • Skilled in mechanical fitting, pump alignment, and fabrication.
  • Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC basics, and automated systems.
  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and maintenance best practices.
