Maintenance Assistant X 2

Accountable for ensuring that hospital facilities are clean and in good operating conditions. The incumbent is accountable for performing general maintenance and repair of the building, grounds and equipment.

• Grade 12
• Engineering N3

• General maintenance experience.
• Sound knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical wiring.
• The ability to safely operate hand and power tools

• Complete minor repair work, including repairing of doors, frames and replacing light bulbs, sockets, switches and windows.

• Performing basic plumbing tasks, such as unclogging drains and fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
• Conducting inspections on control panels and electrical wiring to detect issues and immediately repair.
• Promptly respond to requests for emergency repairs and clean ups.
• Provide support for internal and external audits.
• Participate in creating toolkits and training materials that will support building a steady skills pipeline.
• Inspect and arrange for repair of fixtures, sewer systems, fire extinguishing systems, mechanical equipment under the direction of the Technical Manager.
• Monitor costs or expenses to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste.
• Prepare financial and operational month end reports.
• Submit feedback and progress updates to the Technical Manager.
