Maintenance Assistant

A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Assistant, based at Life Groenkloof Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of general building/electrical maintenance services for the Hospital infrastructure.

• Responsible for all Maintenance related issues on a day to day basis;
• Responsible for all general maintenance enquiries relating to Doctors and Nursing staff
• Execute repairs / tasks as per job card and instructions or Ad hoc request from line Manager
• Provide line managers with relevant information as required
• Supervise the daily inspection of medical gas alarm system and recording of medical gasses
• Supervise the daily inspection of vacuum pumps, medical air compressor, plumbing and general maintenance
• Follow up maintenance schedule for air conditioning and filters

• Grade 12 National Senior Certificate or equivalent
• Minimum N3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical/HVAC
• Experience in Repairs of air conditions (Advantage)
• 3 years' experience in General Hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks, carpentry.
• Conversant in English.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to complete tasks timeously and accurately and be able to work under pressure.
• Eager to learn new systems and to accept work challenges.
• Adhere to NOSA and OHSA acts.
• Be in possession of a valid driver's license.
• Possibly perform standby duties
