ABOUT THE POSITION

Job Purpose: The Logistics Coordinator controls, and ensures compliance with service providers for outbound logistics of products from the mine and railway stations to the ports of export and container packing facilities.

The ideal candidate will work remotely and should be based in either the Steelpoort, Limpopo area or the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal area. This role requires extensive travel to Waterval Boven, Mozambique and Durban to respond to road and rail incidents (including accidents and derailments) involving our product.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate the transportation of products from the mine via road or railway to the required ports of export or container packing facility.
  • Analyse planned routes and risks on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all quality assurance standards are met throughout the transport cycle.
  • Collaborate with all related parties to ensure efficient transport cycle.
  • Inspect, notify and assist on all contractual documents relating to the transport cycle.
  • Ensure all outsourced parties / third party service providers operate as agreed with the protocol and agreement.
  • Manage down chrome losses and ensure compliance by the transporters in terms of security measures.
  • Responsible for keeping track of stock in transit and at point of destination.
  • Travel to the port, container packing facilities and border on a periodic basis to monitor operational agreements.
  • Where necessary travel to road/rail accident scenes to survey and report on product losses.
Reporting
  • Assist with monthly reporting, including contractor performance, stock reconciliation, product loss and month-end stock reports.
  • Assist with management executing system reports.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain/ Exports.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position
  • Experience working in the mining industry will be advantageous
