Legal Talent Associate
Job Description
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 08:30 - 17:00, with occasional calls with the UK that may run later (never later than 19:00)
Singularity works with law firms and legal teams in the UK and internationally that need exceptional legal talent.
We find high calibre lawyers in South Africa and integrate them directly into those firms as full time consultants. The lawyers work remotely but become part of the client's team, handling real work on real matters every day.
For clients, the benefit is straightforward: they get extremely capable lawyers who integrate quickly and strengthen their team without the cost and friction of hiring locally.
For lawyers, the appeal is just as clear. They get to work on sophisticated international matters, earn strong and stable income, and be part of serious legal teams without needing to relocate.
Our role is to bring the right people together and make that relationship work smoothly.
The RoleWe are looking for aLegal Talent Associateto join our team in Cape Town.
At its core, this role is about finding outstanding lawyers and helping them make the move into roles with our clients. You will spend your time identifying potential candidates, speaking with lawyers, assessing their suitability, and guiding them through the process of joining a client team through Singularity.
This is a people heavy role. You will speak to lawyers every day and help them understand how Singularity works, what the opportunities look like, and whether a particular role is right for them.
Many of the lawyers we speak to are cautious. They are often used to very traditional employment structures and can be hesitant about something new. A big part of your job will be explaining how our model works clearly and confidently, answering their questions, and helping them make an informed decision.
When this is done well, lawyers feel comfortable, confident, and excited about the opportunity. When it isn't explained properly, they hesitate or walk away. Your ability to communicate clearly and handle those conversations with confidence is central to the role.
What You'll Do Day to DayYou will work closely with our Director of Operations and the wider Singularity team. Your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing client job specifications and understanding exactly what kind of lawyer a client needs
Using our systems and tools to identify and source suitable lawyers
Reaching out to candidates and starting conversations with potential hires
Interviewing lawyers to assess their experience, ability, and suitability for client roles
Explaining how Singularity works and answering candidate questions about the structure, benefits, and risks
Preparing candidates before they are introduced to clients
Acting as a point of contact for lawyers throughout the process
Supporting lawyers once they are deployed with clients when questions arise
Acting as a liaison between deployed lawyers, the Singularity team, and sometimes the client
Maintaining organised records of candidate conversations and progress
A typical week will involve many conversations with lawyers, reviewing candidates, and coordinating closely with the team internally.
