Job PurposeApplications are invited to fill the position of Technology lecturer in the Intermediate Phase Department. Candidates with expertise in this field and specific skills in the teaching of technology as part of Intermediate Phase Education on the Wellington Campus.
Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- A relevant Master's degree in Technology Education (excluding ICT/IT or Engineering Education).
- A relevant teaching qualification in Technology Education (preferably at primary school level) or an equivalent subject as a major subject at undergraduate level.
- Two (2) years relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years' relevant teaching experience at IP level.
- Fluent in Afrikaans.
- Evidence of research outputs and supervision.
- Expert knowledge in teaching of Technology and Technology Education.
- Specialised knowledge of methodologies of teaching Technology.
- Curriculum development and other learning materials development.
- Supervising students on teaching practice.
- Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
- Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment.
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans).
- Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
- Expert knowledge in Technology.
- Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge Assessment and Quality Assurance.
- Academic administration, development, and marks administration Good work ethics and ability to manage work.
- Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms Community engagement.
- Mentoring and support of students Teamwork and collaboration Strong student focus.
- Meticulous planning and organising skills/Time management Networking with schools and other networks.
- Ability to align yourself to hybrid and blended teaching and learning models (face to face and online learning).
